"Sword Art Online The Movie" Has Sold One Million Tickets in International Market

While still running in its domestic market of Japan, it is confirmed today that Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale has earned 850 million yen (about 7.62 million US dollars) with the one million ticket sales in 19 regions/countries in the international market. According to the film's official Twitter, on its release day of May 17 in France, the film ranked 3rd in its capital Paris' daily ranking.

 

 

The all-new film based on Reki Kawahara's sci-fi action light novel series was released in Japan on

February 18, 2017, and has made 2,503,140,460 yen (about 22.43 million US dollars) on 1,758,928

admissions by May 24. Now the film's combined domestic and overseas grosses have reached 3.35

billion yen (30 million US dollars) and it means over 2.75 million people in the world have seen it in

theaters.

 

 

"Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale" has been released in the following countries:


-English-speaking regions/South and Central America

 US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland

-Europe

 Germany, Austria, France, Belgium

-Asia

 Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong

   


  

To celebrate the domestic and international success of the film, director Tomohiko Ito and sound

director Miwa Iwanami will join a special LIVE ZOUND screening at the Kawasaki Cinetitta theater

in Kanagawa for a talk session on June 10.
