Sweetness is Overwhelming in "Saboriman Kantarou" Trailer

A new preview video has been published for Saboriman Kantarou, an upcoming live-action TV drama based on the manga written by Tensei Hagiwara and illustrated by Inoue ABD about a slick young office worker who constantly finds new ways to avoid work in order to indulge his taste for sugary sweets.

The original Saboriman Ametani Kantarou manga is serialized in Kodansha's Morning seinen manga magazine. The story follows Kantarou Ametani, a successful young executive who works at a publishing company. Kantarou secretly has a severe craving for sweets, and he's constantly innovating new ways to ditch out and indulge this vice. "Saboriman" is a pun combining "salaryman" with "saboru", which means to skip out on your obligations or to sabotage them with slowness.

The Saboriman Kantarou TV drama stars kabuki actor Matsuya Onoe as Kantarou Ametani and features direction by Kentarô Moriya, Yusuke Ishida, and Natsuki Takashima. The series will broadcast on TV Tokyo every Thursday at 1:00 AM JST beginning on July 13, 2017, and on BS Japan every Tuesday at 11:00PM JST beginning on July 18, 2017. Saboriman Kantarou will also be streamed on Netflix Japan beginning on January 07, 2017.

Old and New Friends Appear in "Kaito x Ansa" Cast Announcement

Kaito and Ansa are the title characters and new quiz participants in the upcoming Nazotokine spinoff -- but it looks like they won't be going in unprepared! Some new cast members, as well as a few familiar faces, have been confirmed as coming to Kaito x Ansa.

Nazotokine leading lady Tokine Amino won't be leaving her new partners in the lurch. Natsuko Hara will be returning to reprise her roll. Similarly, Sora Tokui will be returning to play the rabbit-like quizmaster Hacchin.

New to the series is the cute and bubbly Hinata Takaragawa, played by Emi Nitta (Honoka, Love Live!). Also on board is a new Qmanoid named Yocchin, voiced by Kenichi Suzumura (Atsushi, Kuroko's Basketball).

Legendary Japanese pro-wrestler Genichiro Tenryu will also be playing a special guest role in the series.

Kaito x Ansa sees the two title characters taking on the same roles Tokine did in Nazotokine -- but now they're protecting their hometown from the villainous Yuu Kuromu with their puzzle solving skills.

Miss Modern and Her Man Cast for "Haikara-san ga Tooru"

The leading lady of Haikara-san ga Tooru (Here Comes Miss Modern), as well as her love interest, have found their modern voices. An upcoming two-part film series will be adapting Waki Yamato's classic shoujo manga about an unlikely romance during the Taisho era.

Playing "Miss Modern" herself, Benio Hanamura, will be Saori Hayami. Hayami has appeared as Urara in Yamada-kun and the 7 Witches, Haruka in Sound! Euphonium, and Ayase in Oreimo.

As Benio's love interest, Shinobu Ijuin, is Mamoru Miyano. Miyano is probably best known to fans as Light Yagami in the Death Note anime, but has also appeared as Rin Matsuoka in Free!, Setsuna in Gundam 00, and many others.

Haikara-san ga Tooru focuses on Benio, a tomboyish young woman in 1920's Japan who finds herself betrothed to the handsome young soldier Shinobu. She is against the idea at first, but the two eventually fall in love.

The first film, subtitled Benio, Hana no Jyunanasai, premieres in Japan on November 11.

Sentai Filmworks Previews "Onigiri" English Dub

Sentai Filmworks has announced plans to release a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack of Onigiri, the 2016 adaptation of the CyberStep action MMORPG, exlcusive to their store on July 11th. Preparing for this, they've revealed the series' English dub cast.

In a mystical world where humans and supernatural creatures co-exist, the dark and ancient race of beings known as the Kamikui are on the rise. To stop them, the people of Japan will need a mighty army of heroines with unparalleled fighting skills. Unfortunately, times are tough, and they’ll have to make do with a runaway Princess; the axe-wielding and frequently drunken daughter of an Orc tavern owner; an internet troll who lives in her own fantasy world; and a frazzled fighter who would love to stick to the rules of combat if she could reign the others in for even half a second. It may not be an epic out of legend, and Japan might be doomed, but at least the road to damnation is going to be a heck of a fun journey as our wannabe world-savers cut loose in ONIGIRI!
