Kyoto Animation Awards First Encouragement Prize In Three Years

Kyoto Animation and their KA Esma Bunko publication label have announced the results of their eighth talent search. As with many years, no category (novel and short this year) had a grand prize winner for a submission with creativity or enthusiasm that they were looking for (Kana Akatsuki's Violet Evergarden won in 2014's fifth awards). However, after no recognition for anything in 2015 and 2016, there was an encouragement honorary mention this year.

Hiroshi Yuuki was recognized for 20th Century Electric Catalog, which they praise as an insightful take on modern times, with well conceived characters and setting, With work, it's strengths could be developed into the type of work that KA aims to carry.
