Fans of top-down space shoot-em-ups have something new to look forward to for the PS4. Coming this July, the new game Defenders of Ekron allows you to shoot aliens and save the cosmos with the help of a trusty mech.
Created by indie company In Vitro, Defenders of Ekron casts you as Eneas, who is training to pilot one of his words cutting-edge mechs, known as Anakim. But his inability to develop his Isvará -- the power allowing him to pilot an Anakim -- leads to him being shuffled off instead to fight a rogue army of Anakim pilots known as the Renegades. Along the way, he begins to learn more about the secrets of his homeworld.
The story-driven, free-roam shoot-em-up allows players to fully explore ten levels of gameplay, accompanied by a hard rock soundtrack by in-house band Action Replay. It also has range for a variety of fighting styles, including melee swordfighting, pyromancy, and dashing.
Defenders of Ekron goes on sale July 11 for $14.99 on Steam and the PlayStation Network.
