As expected, the 21st Detective Conan feature film Karakurenai no Love Letter/Crimson Love Letter delivered a very good 117 million yen on 89,000 admissions even in its 7th weekend of May 27-28. The film's total domestic gross now tops 6.35 billion yen, surpassing last year's 20th film Junkoku no Nightmare/Pure Black Nightmare (6.33 billion yen) and becoming the highest grossing film in the Detective Conan film series.
The ranking list below shows that the film series has been renewing its own box office record for five consecutive years since 2013's Zekkai no Private Eye/Private Eye in the Distant Sea. The 21st film will surpass 5 million ticket sales in Japan soon and is expected to be the 30th top grossing Japanese film of all-time surpassing Pokémon: The Movie 2000 (6.4 billion yen).
