"Love Live!" Director Takahiko Kyogoku Helms "Houseki no Kuni" TV Anime Adaptation

It is officially confirmed today that a TV anime adaptation of Haruko Ichikawa's action fantasy manga Houseki no Kuni (Land of The Lustrous) is now in the works for an October 2017 premiere in Japan. The anime's official website also opens with a teaser visual and reveals its main staff members including director Takahiko Kyogoku (Pretty Rhythm series, Love Live!).

Main Staff:

Director: Takahiko Kyogoku (Pretty Rhythm series, Love Live!)

Series Composition Writer: Toshiya Oono (Suite PreCure♪, Gatchaman Crowds)

Character Designer: Asako Nishida (Love Live!, Active Raid)

Anime Production: Orange (Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue, Dimension-W)

The manga has been serialized in Kodansha's Afternoon since its December 2012 issue and the latest 7th

tankobon is scheduled to be released on May 23. The story is set in a far distant future, revolving around

the 28 members of the new life form called "Houseki/Gems," whose bodies are made of beautiful crystal

like jewels and their battles against enemies from the moon, "Tsukijin/Moon People" who want their bodies.

Back in July 2013 when the 1st tankobon was released, a 100-second anime promotional video was made

by Studio Hibari (Venus Versus Virus, MOONLIGHT MILE) and viewed over 100,000 times in five weeks.

But the YouTube video is no longer available legitimately.
