Aya Hirano Rocks Karaoke with "Cruel Angel's Thesis"

So when you think of Aya Hirano singing anime themes at karaoke, one character in particular may come to mind...

But those who are fans of the voice actress from other works (and her own singing career) know that when she's not playing Kona, she's got an amazing voice. And her recent career has seen her in musical theater, performing in everything from The Mystery of Edwin Drood to Spamalot. So the evolution of her voice in this clip from a recent karaoke competition should come as no surprise:

Hirano's performance of "Cruel Angel's These" from Neon Genesis Evangelion really seems to reflect her new musical theater training. Her voice has definitely changed since the days of Haruhi. What do you think? Do you like her new tone, or do you prefer her earlier sound?
