As another plan for its 25th anniversary, the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon franchise has collaborated with renowned German stuffed toy maker Steiff to create special handmade teddy bear dolls wearing the iconic guardian costume of Sailor Moon. As reported, the German company previously produced teddy bears based on Duralumin, which appears in Kiyohiko Azuma's Yotsuba&! manga series as the protagonist Yotsuba's friend teddy bear, and bears inspired by Ciel Phantomhive from the Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic anime film released in January 2017.
The 43,200 yen (about 387 US dollars) item will be produced for a limited number of 1,992, because the Sailor Moon franchise was launched in 1992 with Naoko Takeuchi's manga series. Bandai's official online store Premium Bandai today started accepting pre-orders for it for December 2017 release. The item will be also sold at some department stores in Japan and Bandai's Otona Jyoshi Biyori store in the JR Tokyo Station in December.
