Miss Modern and Her Man Cast for "Haikara-san ga Tooru"

The leading lady of Haikara-san ga Tooru (Here Comes Miss Modern), as well as her love interest, have found their modern voices. An upcoming two-part film series will be adapting Waki Yamato's classic shoujo manga about an unlikely romance during the Taisho era.

Playing "Miss Modern" herself, Benio Hanamura, will be Saori Hayami. Hayami has appeared as Urara in Yamada-kun and the 7 Witches, Haruka in Sound! Euphonium, and Ayase in Oreimo.

As Benio's love interest, Shinobu Ijuin, is Mamoru Miyano. Miyano is probably best known to fans as Light Yagami in the Death Note anime, but has also appeared as Rin Matsuoka in Free!, Setsuna in Gundam 00, and many others.

Haikara-san ga Tooru focuses on Benio, a tomboyish young woman in 1920's Japan who finds herself betrothed to the handsome young soldier Shinobu. She is against the idea at first, but the two eventually fall in love.

The first film, subtitled Benio, Hana no Jyunanasai, premieres in Japan on November 11.
