Objection! Phoenix Wright's Ancestor Sets the Stage for New Game

Sadly for fans in the West, The Great Ace Attorney (Dai-Gyakuten Saiban) doesn't look like it will be getting any sort of official US or EU release. However, if you want to catch up on the story of Phoenix Wright's ancestor and his exploits with Sherlock Holmes, Capcom has just launched the first in a series of web minisodes to get you up to speed -- and the intro may look very familiar to fans.

The first episode begins with Ryuunosuke Naruhodou at the mercy of a giant, glowy-eyed judge -- then waking up from his horrible nightmare on a couch, only to be beaned over the head with a fire extinguisher. If that sounds familiar, it should: it's a direct remake of the beginning of "The Lost Turnabout," the tutorial case in Ace Attorney: Justice for All.

But rather than having to try a case with amnesia, Ryuunosuke is taken through a run-down of his first case alongside his best friend, Kazuma Asougi. Check out a full version with subtitles (click the captions):

More episodes are due out over the next three weeks, in preparation for The Great Ace Attorney 2, which comes out August 3.
