"Biohazard: Zombie Rush" - a "fun run" foot race event inspired by Capcom's Resident Evil series of survival-horror video games - is coming to Tokyo on May 21, 2017, and would-be athletes can compete either as fleeing survivors or chasing zombies.
The event will be staged at the Ohi Racecourse (also known as Tokyo City Keiba) in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, Japan. Participants can enter the 2 kilometer (1.2 mile) race either as survivors or zombies. Survivors are given a tear-away paper apron to wear and are tasked with completing missions along the course to win prizes, while zombies will attempt to destroy the survivors' aprons to knock them out of the race.
Entry ticket packages range in price from 4800 yen ($42.34 US) for advanced registration for survivors to 9800 yen ($86.44 US) for the deluxe Premium Zombie entry package, which includes a zombie makeover by professional make-up artists. Players can also enter without the paper apron if they wish to enjoy the course in a liesurely manner without becoming zombie bait.
The "Biohazard: Zombie Rush" also includes other activities and attractions, such as a zombie cosplay contest, zombie-themed food and character goods, a live-talk event by actor / comedian Hiroshi Shinagawa, and live music provided by Kamen Joshi and DJ masa. The festivities kick off at 9AM JST on May 21, 2017.
