The Koi Suru Shirokuma ("A Polar Bear Falls in Love") series of theatrical anime shorts is continuing at 50 select movie theaters in Japan, and to celebrate the release of the 2nd episode of this unlikely B.L. ("Beast Love") story between a male polar bear and a male seal, the official website for the series has updated with a new key visual.
Based on the web comic by Koromo, the Koi Suru Shirokuma anime features Yūichirō Umehara as Shirokuma-san, a lonely and amorous polar bear, and Natsuki Hanae as Azarashi-kun, a seal who initially mistakes Shirokuma-san's romantic advances as signs of hunger. The short anime features direction by Kazuya Ichikawa and animation by Gathering.
The 1st episode of the series is available below. The 2nd episode of Koi Suru Shirokuma began screening in theaters in Japan on May 13, 2017, as part of the pre-show trailer package.
Described as a "white love story in the Law of the Jungle world" and also as a "heart-warming B.L. (Beast Love) comedy", the original Koi Suru Shirokuma manga is published on the Pixiv Comic and Comic Walker websites. Kadokawa also publishes printed volumes of Koi Suru Shirokuma under their Media Factory Comics label.
