Houbunsha today officially confirmed that a TV anime adaptation of Yuiko Tokumi's slice-of-life four-panel manga Slow Start is now in the works. The news was revealed on the latest June 2017 issue of the publisher's Manga Time Kirara monthly magazine released today in Japan, and at the same time, the manga author posted a newly drawn illustration to announce the news on her official Twitter account.

The author Tokumi is best known for her character design and manga works for the Binzume Yousei/Bottle
Fairy franchise in 2002-2005. Her fourth serialization work Slow Start has been serialized in Manga Time
Kirara since its July 2013 issue and the manga's latest fourth tankobon volume is set for release on June 27.
The story centers on Hana Ichinose who failed her entrance exams to high school due to the mumps that
she caught the day before them. One year later, she becomes a high school student, but hiding the fact she
is one year older than other students.
