A new movie poster has been released for Love and Lies (known in Japan as Koi to Uso), an upcoming live-action film based on the speculative fiction / romance manga by Musawo about a world in which the government of Japan decides the marriage partners for young people when they turn sixteen.
Love and Lies is directed by Takeshi Furusawa. The film involves an original story with a different love triangle from the manga: Aoi Nisawa (played by Aoi Morikawa) is in love with her childhood friend, Yuto Shiba (played by Takumi Kitamura), but the government has assigned her to marry Sosuke Takachiho (played by Kanta Sato).
The tagline on the poster translates as: "In a world where passion is forbidden, the government selects your ideal partner. One day, we receive a 'love' notification."
The original Love and Lies manga is published by Kodansha and serialized on DeNA's Manga Box app, which describes the story of Love and Lies as follows:
Lies are forbidden and love is doubly forbidden. In the near future, when young people in Japan turn sixteen, they are assigned a marriage partner by the government. People don't have to go through the trouble of looking for someone, and everyone accepts that the country will find a compatible partner to make them happy. Yukari Nejima is fifteen years old. He lives in a small corner of the country, and just can't seem to get ahead in life. Both academically and athletically he's below average. But in within him, he hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him when he falls in love?
