Ashi-Girl, a time-slip love comedy manga by Kozueko Morimoto about a lazy 16 year old high school girl who ends up transported back in time to the Sengoku Period, is being adapted into a live-action TV drama that will broadcast as part of NHK's "Saturday Period Drama" programming block beginning in September of 2017.
The original Ashi-Girl manga is serialized in Shueisha's Cocohana josei manga magazine. The story follows Yui Hayakawa, a 16 year old high school girl who has no interest in romance, fashion, or her scholastic career. Yui is forgetful and perpetually tardy, and she spends most of her free time napping. Her only skill is that she's an incredibly fast runner. One day Yui is accidentally transported back to the Warring States period of feudal Japan by a time machine invented by her brainiac brother, Takeru.
The live-action TV drama of Ashi-Girl is directed by Yuuki Nakajima, Masaya Iseda, and Yuu Kashima and it stars Yuina Kuroshima as Yui Hayakawa and Kentarô Sakaguchi as Hagikuhachirou Tadakiyo. The series will broadcast every Saturday from 18:05 - 18:43 (6:05 - 6:43 PM JST) on NHK beginning on September 23, 2017. The Ashi-Girl TV drama will run for 12 episodes in total.
