Idols Get Violent in New Smartphone Game Trailer

If you've ever watched Love Live! and thought "This could be a lot more violent," we've got a game for you.

Square Enix has just launched the first teaser for Project Tokyo Dolls, their new tap-action RPG app set to launch this month. The story focuses on the fight against Pygmalion, a force consuming people's memories in the shadows of Tokyo. The idol group Dolls is made up of girls reborn with paranormal powers, who use the group as a front to conceal their battle against Pygmalion.

The first video, animated by Wit Studio (the team behind Attack on Titan), is the first of three mini-chapters introducing the story before the game's release. Our as-yet-unnamed heroine is a major Dolls fan, but finds herself a victim of Pygmalion. As the trailer ends, she says, "I don't want to die."

The video, labeled "Episode 0," will be followed up by two more short episodes on Wednesday and Friday of this week.

Project Tokyo Dolls is currently in its open preregistration period, with a series of prizes available to all early adopters based on how many sign up in advance.
