Yui Ogura Takes Lead in KFC-Sponsored "Mini-Drama"

In a marketing move markedly less awkward than America's "I ate the bones" campaign a few years ago, KFC of Japan is turning to a popular idol and voice actress to help spread the word about their product: Yui Ogura.

Ogura will be appearing in a six-episode mini-drama sponsored by the franchise titled Kentucky Moshimo Theater. As the title suggests, the three-minute episodes are "what-if" scenarios, featuring Ogura as a variety of characters enjoying KFC food in various situations.

Starting this Thursday, viewers can see Ogura as "the unfriendly secretary," "the celebrity classmate," and other character types. The episodes will run until mid-May, after which a second season will premiere, featuring an as-yet-unannounced male voice actor.

Kentucky Moshimo Theater will air every Thursday starting April 13 at 10:57 PM on AbemaTV.
