Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Kicks Off Second World Tour Next Week

Are you ready to PON PON PON? Japanese Kawaii Ambassador, singer and fashion icon, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu kicks off her second world tour starting on February 13th in Seattle, WA. Kyary also just turned 21 on January 29th! This is a chance for her fans on the US West Coast to say Happy Birthday to the singer.

I was remembering Kyary's outdoor stage last year as a part of the JPOP Summit Festival 2013 at Union Square in San Francisco. It drew a huge crowd as it was in the center of downtown San Francisco and I remember thinking that her talking voice reminded me of Santa's sleigh bells as if she was coming with lots of toys in the middle of July.

Kyary was incredibly Kawaii in the flesh and moving human form on stage, however, I believe the best part was her MCing skill. We all know she speaks very little English and she didn't even try as she instructed the dance movements to her songs entirely in Japanese and the audience was magically able to follow it.

If my memory serves me right, it went like this:

KPP "つーけま、右、つーけま、左、つけまつげ、で、手をこうやってください!Are you ready?"

Audience "YEAHHHHHHH!!"

KPP "ではもう一回練習します!Are you ready?"

Audience "YEAHHHHHHHH!!"

I also would like to point out that she did not mispronounce her last name on stage at all and the audience got enough practice to say Pamyu Pamyu by the end of the show.

I was glad I was able to catch her show for free at JPOP Summit Festival, but it made me curious to see her full show even if I have to pay for the ticket.

J-POP Summit Festival 2013 invited notable guests such as LoVendoя, a Japanese girls band with former Morning Musume, Reina Tanaka, Japanese Human Beatboxer Daichi and US Singer, KYLEE besides Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

Last year, this festival of Japanese culture also kicked off Japan Film Festival with a list of US premiere showings of Japanese movies including Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, HUNTER X HUNTER: Phantom Rouge and Naruto Shippuden: The Lost Tower, just to name the anime movies out of the list. Japanese culture fans as well as anime and J-fashion fans can look forward to another fun-filled festival with an impressive line-up of Japanese culture for this year as well.

JPOP Summit festival 2014 will be on July 19 and 20 this year in Japantown and Union Square, San Francisco, CA.
