Whoa. They actually went there. There’s not much room for
misinterpretation about the nature of Hisoka’s… excitement during these fights, now. Not when he’s framed from an angle so boldly favoring his crotch. No doubt about it
- - he’s popping wood when he’s fighting Gon.
That’s incredibly gross, but… “incredibly gross” is exactly what
Togashi’s going for. I guess if we’ve been fine with adult villains trying to injure
and kill our young heroes, so far, then we shouldn’t call this any less
inappropriate. If you want to make us clap for the good guys and hiss at the
bad guys, you can’t get more direct about it than making the latter
party a perv of this order. And HUNTER X HUNTER is nothing is not direct.
* AHEM * Anyway…
== TEASER ==The whole crew was obviously looking forward to this fight. The amount
of money and animation manpower on display is a cathartic a release as you can
get for a whole arc’s worth of build-up. Even the rendering on the tiles in the fighting ring puts the entire
Yusuke/Toguro showdown in the demon arena to shame.
I know I’m in too deep with the show, now. SIGH. A big part of the fun here was watching all
the aspects of Nen come into play after those numerous little demonstrations. The
appeal is that specific.
Early on in the series, I joked that Gon and his pals
looked like they could be mascots for IKEA. Now, I’d amend that and say they seem like the helpful tour guides in
some edu-tainment textbook about martial arts, and chi, and whatnot. The fact
that this climactic duel still winds up being a sparring match in
the end puts an even finer point on the lesson plan nature of all this.
So... have you been learning anything (aside from the true nature of Hisoka's proclivities)?
Watch "The x True x Pass" and "A Big Debt x and x A Small Kick" and decide for yourself, then read my comments on the last episode.
