Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase recently commented on the potential of a Final Fantasy VII remake, stating that the two biggest obstacles are "staff availability and budget." Despite deeming it too big of a project to take on, the company registered a trademark for the RPG's fictional Shinra Company in Japan.
A trademark for Final Fantasy VII's power company could mean anything. It could be something else set in the world of FFVII, or it could be nothing at all. Either way it's interesting and worth speculating whether or not Square Enix has any plans for the beloved entry in the sprawling series of RPGs.
