Despite the fact that Kazuma Kiryu's story thread is over, that isn't stopping Yakuza from soldiering ahead with new stories and characters, according to series general director Toshihiro Nagoshi

This news comes from the Famitsu Awards 2016 interview with Nagoshi, who stated that he's already working on the next installment in the Yakuza series to follow Yakuza 6, which just launched in Japan in Japan in December. It's currently scheduled for release in North America and Europe in 2018.
To that end, for hardcore Yakuza fans, Yakuza: Kiwami is also releasing in the west this August. There's a lot more Yakuza titles coming, so no need to fret about the series ending!
