Switch's "Senran Kagura" Game Promises a 'Pure' Experience That Focuses on Asuka

The Senran Kagura series recently had its first Nintendo Switch game revealed, but it doesn't look like it will be anything close to a traditional outing. While the initial announcement made it sound no less salacious—particularly with producer Kenichiro Takaki's keen interest in HD rumble—it turns out Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura may be more wholesome than we thought.

More details came out in an interview with Takaki in the latest issue of Famitsu. According to Takaki, Shinobi Refle will feature a "charmingly stupid" story that only features Asuka. Her graphics have been rebuilt from scratch, and particular attention has been paid to the lighting.

While Takaki says they're aiming for a "pure and wholesome" Senran Kagura, he's still being coy about the actual uses of HD rumble. The fact that he wants people to leave it to their imagination for the moment makes it sound like he's up to his old tricks, but we'll see.

Takaki and his team are looking into other features besides HD rumble on Switch, which he says is really easy to develop for. Shinobi Refle will be affordably priced as a digital download, and it should be out in Japan sometime this year.
