No Fooling: "Pop Team Epic" Becomes An Anime in October of 2017

April Fools' Day is officially over in Japan, and that means it's time to get down to some serious business, such as the official announcement of an anime adaptation based on Bkub Okawa's cult web comic, Pop Team Epic.

Initially teased as an adaptation of Hoshiiro Girldrop, Pop Team Epic is described as a "crap anime" that will feature animation by Kamikaze Douga (the opening animations for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) and production by King Records. The tag-line on the key visual above translates to: "You're going to regret this, Takeshobo..."

Character setting artwork has also been released for the heroines of Pop Team Epic, including:

Popuko, a 14 year old girl. She's short.

Pipimi, a 14 year old girl. She's tall.

The original Pop Team Epic web comic by Bkub Okawa has been serialized in Takeshobo's Manga Life Win digital manga publication since 2014. Further details about the Pop Team Epic anime (such as the format) have not been released yet, although an official home page and Twitter feed (@hoshiiro_anime) have been published.
