Get Friendly with the New "Dragon Quest" Slime Controller for PS4

HORI wants to make your return to the world of Dragon Quest a little more immersive this summer -- and they're doing so by letting you get your hands on one of the game's adorable Slimes.

But it's not just a figurine. Turn it over -- and it's a PS4 controller.

Available the same day as Dragon Quest XI, the Slime controller fits in two hands -- a bit bigger than your typical PS4 controller -- and connects wirelessly via Bluetooth. Other than being circular on the bottom and shaped like a large Hershey Kiss, it looks as though it operates like your typical PS4 controller.

Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete is the latest in the RPG series created by Yuji Horii and designed by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. The new game will make use of Unreal Engine 4 for its PS4 release, and will also be available for the Nintendo 3DS. Plans are in place to make a Nintendo Switch port, too.

Both the Slime controller and the game itself will go on sale in Japan on July 29.
