Not be confused with Gakuen Handsome, another April Fools' Day gag has appeared in the form of Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs, a joke that re-imagines the cast of the super-powered action manga and TV anime as ordinary high school students and teachers.
For one day only, the official Japanese home page for Bungo Stray Dogs features new artwork and character profiles describing the Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs series. The tagline declares: "Our springtime is blue, but a little painful. Once more, the Bungo boys are in a school youth graffiti story."
The original Bungo Stray Dogs manga is written by Kafka Asagiri, illustrated by Sango Harukawa, and serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace seinen manga magazine. The Bungo Stray Dogs TV anime is directed by Takuya Igarashi and features animation by BONES. Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:
Kicked out of his orphanage and on the verge of starving to death, Nakajima Atsushi meets some strange men. One of them, Dazai Osamu, is a suicidal man attempting to drown himself in broad daylight. The other, bespectacled Kunikida Doppo, nervously stands by flipping through a notepad. Both are members of the "Armed Detective Agency" said to solve incidents that even the military and police won't touch. Atsushi ends up accompanying them on a mission to eliminate a man-eating tiger that's been terrorizing the population...
