Kadokawa has announced that the original TCG of Ange Vierge will cease to be supported this summer -- and by next year, the official website will go dark. But they're not leaving quietly: before they go, there will be one final tournament to close out the game.
The game, released by Kadokawa's Fujimi Shobo and Media Factory, came out in 2013 and has inspired a manga, anime, and smartphone game. Kadokawa announced this month that development on the game has now ceased, with all tournaments and campaigns ending by the end of this June.
The game's last hurrah will come May 21 in a Final Festa tournament to be held at Kadokawa's 3rd Head Office Building. The Final Festa will be a Swiss-round tournament of 40-minute matches, and is being called a "Prohibition/Restriction Release Battle." In other words, with the exception of one card pairing, players will be able to use any cards from the entire history of the game -- even those previously not allowed in tournaments.
Prizes include mini card boxes, sleeve sets, limited edition cards, and special art.
More information is avaiable on the Final Festa official site.
The website will be shut down as of March 31, 2018.
