"Ping Pong" Goes "Dragon Ball" For April Fool's Day Crossover Ad

April Fool's Day is taken way too seriously in Japan, as are there are loads and loads of updates which are all just jokes but you'll never know in some cases from the examples of past jokes, so let's see which one this will be. Noitamina's new anime, Ping Pong's official site features a Dragon Ball-inspired design for April Fool's Day in Japan. There is even a special joke promo video featuring legendary voice actress Masako Nozawa whose notable roles include Goku from Dragon Ball and she also voices Obaba from the new anime.

The video posted on April Fool's Day in Japan is a part of Ping Pong's promotional video champaign called "Rally CM" which is the series of videos that focus on the point of view of the different characters that narrate the video and it was Nozawa's character's turn. The joke video opens with Nozawa saying "Ossu, ora Obaba!" with background music that has strong resemblence to Dragon Ball's incidental music.

The top page of the anime's official site now features Obaba in the center and carries a logo that looks strangely familiar with a Dragon Ball inspired design as well. The updated Story section says the anime follows the adventures of Peko and Smile in their journey to find the lost seventh ping pong ball in the world. We'll see when the anime starts broadcasting on April 10th in Japan.
