Fujimi Shobou officially announced today on April 15 that an anime adaptation of Touki Yanagimi's supernatural battle-themed light novel series Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai/AntiMagic Academy "The 35th Test Platoon" is in the works. It has been illustrated by Kippu, who is best known for his works for Shirow Shiratori's popular light novel series No-Rin.
The first volume of the novel series was published in May 2012 and the latest 6th volume will be released this Saturday on April 19. The manga adaptation illustrated by Sutaro Hanao has been serialized in KADOKAWA's Monthly Dragon Age since its December 2012 issue and now two tankobon volumes are available.
The story is set in the world the people with magical powers on the edge of ruin. The top of the military power
has moved from swords to magic, then to guns now. AntiMagic Academy was founded to train inquisitioners
to crack down on the remaining threat of the magical powers. The protagonist Takeru Kusanagi is a student
of the academy and belongs to the 35th test platoon, a scratch team of poor students. While having no
talent for guns, he has studied to be an inquisitioner with his only merit, kenjyutsu (swordsmanship). One
day, Ouka Outori, a super elite student who has the license to witch-hunt, joins his platoon. She is nicknamed
as "Calamity," since she actually shot a criminal to death in the past. As the leader of the platoon, Takeru
starts working with her on a mission to retrieve Magical Heritage.
