For those not steeped in the history of motorsport, the Paris-Dakar Rally may not mean much, but to those that follow long-distance rally raid racing, the name conjures up images of motorcycle riders on dirtbikes traversing sand dunes and massive support trailers jumping around the desert following behind equally overpowered rally vehicles racing to be the first to reach the port city.
Now, Honda Worldwide has decided to commemorate its entry in last year's rally after a 24-year absence with a new internally produced manga detailing the manufacturer's journey back to the race, where it previously won four times in consecutive fashion from 1986-89 in the Motorcycle class. The manufacturer will compete in this year's race, once again held in South America due to political unrest in Northern Africa and previous terrorism threats that lead to the cancellation of the 2008 Paris-Dakar event and subsequent move to South America.
