Most tokusatsu (special effects) series feature Japanese superheroes in brightly colored outfits duking it out for dominance of your sunny weekend mornings. Garo—which originally aired for 25 episodes on TV Tokyo from 2005-2006—was different. Decidedly more “adult,” the late-night series is rolling on with a slate of new projects including an anime spin-off.
Attack on Titan’s Yasuko Kobayashi will be writing an original anime series that continues the Zero line. Animator Yuichiro Hayashi directs the MAPPA production, planned for fall.
