School Idol Festival, otherwise known as the LoveLive! mobile app, became the highest selling mobile app in iTunes App Store for iPad in Japan shortly before its overseas debut and just reached 3 million downloads in Japan on May 23rd. School Idol Festival is all about the LoveLive! that fans love and the first in-game event feature macarons!
It’s the perfect timing to start the game since the cute in-game event called Sweet Holiday just launched. During this event, players can collect macarons that comes in the circle during Live Show to unlock special event Live Show with special songs such as Sweet & Sweet Holiday by Printemps (Honoka, Kotori and Hanayo)! Keep collecting the macarons because each level (Easy, Normal, and Hard) of the songs will require different number of macarons to play.
School Idol Festival itself is a highly addictive tap rhythm game with stories to unlock as you improve and level up during the game. The term “LoveLive-r (pronounced “luhv liv-er” and not “love liver”)” is used by Japanese fans to show their fandom. Many Japanese people including some famous ones are speaking of their sweet addiction to the app openly in public.
By tapping along successfully to the beat and the commands, players will collect points. At the end of the song, players are graded based on the number of points collected, receive prizes, such as additional members to add to their school idol group, and progress further in the story. In addition to the rhythm challenge, players can level up their members, unlock member side stories, and complete special events to play new μ's songs.
Once you clear the Live Show, you get points, additional members and rewards according the score on top of earning experience points to go up in Rank. Unlock the Expert level of the Hit Song by beating the Hard level. The Expert level songs will show up in the ‘b-side” and you get a bonus Love Gem as a reward if you beat it.
When you have enough school idols, don’t forget to create your own teams! You can make up to 5 teams that you can also name.
When you reach a certain Rank, stories will be unlocked. There is the main story of school idol club activities and a side story that focuses on each of the school idols.
