"Naruto Shippuden" Composer Yasuharu Takanashi Receives JASRAC International Award

The ceremony for the JASRAC Award 2014 was held at Koga Masao Museum of Music in Tokyo on May 21, and the background music for the popular TV anime Naruto Shippuden composed by Yasuharu Takanashi received the International Award for second straight year.


 


JASRAC (Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers) annually presents the JASRAC Awards to the copyright holders whose musical works represent a large share of the royalty distribution. The International Award is given to the work that earned the largest amount of royalties from foreign copyright societies. The Naruto Shippuden music earned royalties from 11 countries, mainly from Europe including France and Italy. The composer Takanashi's Fairy Tail music is also ranked in a 8th in the top 10 foreign income works.


 


Takanashi, who started his professional musician career as the keyboardist for Japanese symphonic metal


band Hellen in 1980s, is well-known for his musical contributions for the four PreCure series: Fresh! PreCure


(2009-2010), Heartcatch PreCure! (2010-2011), Suite PreCure♪ (2011-2012), and Smile PreCure! (2012-2013).


His PreCure background music influenced by Hard Rock/Heavy Metal are often called "Cure Metal" among


the fans.
