"Haikyu!!" Serves Up 2 Compilation Films for the Autumn of 2017

Haikyu!!, an anime based on the volleyball-themed sports manga by Haruichi Furudate, is receiving a pair of theatrical anime compilation movies scheduled to hit Japanese theaters in the Fall season of 2017.

 

 

The first film, which recaps the competition with Aoba Johsai High, is entitled Haikyu!! Talent and Sense. The second film, which recaps the competition with Shiratatorizawa High, is entitled Haikyu!! Concept Battle.

 

Further details on the productions are not yet available, but it has been announced that the official preview videos for each film will be screened at the TOHO Animation booth at AnimeJapan 2017, which is being held at the Tokyo Big Sight venue in Koto Ward, Tokyo, Japan from March 23 - 26, 2017.

 

 

The original Haikyu!! manga is serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, and an English language version is also published by Viz Media. The Haikyu!! TV anime is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka and features animation by Production I.G.. Crunchyroll describes the anime as follows:

 

"Haikyu!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shoyo Hinata’s love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured pro volleyball player, Hinata creates a volleyball team in his last year of middle school. Unfortunately the team is matched up against the "King of the Court" Tobio Kageyama’s team in their first tournament and inevitably lose. After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama After entering high school, Hinata joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined."
