With Ghost In The Shell about to hit theaters, there's new chatter about the Warner Bros adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's classic sci-fi Akira. During the latest episode of Meet The Movie Press, Jeff Sneider stated that the studio is currently looking at a pair of Swedish horror directors, either Life's director Daniel Espinosa or Lights Out director David Sandberg.
Neither is apparently close to a done-deal. Chances of Sandberg joining the project are reportedly slim due to his other projects at Warner Bros, said Sneider. Espinosa is slightly more likely. Justin Lin was reportedly eyed for the project last year.
Directors previously attached to the project through its convoluted history have included Stephen Norrington, Gary Whitta, Albert Hughes, Ruairi Robinson, and Jaume Collet-Serra.
