In the wake of the devastating July 2016 terrorist attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh that resulted in the deaths of 29 people (including 7 Japanese tourists), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan is enlisting the aid of an unlikely expert's knowledge of how to survive business trips abroad: Duke Togo, the titular international professional assassin from Takao Saito's long-running manga, Golgo 13.
Togo will star in a manual in 13 parts posted to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. These posts will include safety tips and security protocols that are intended to aid Japanese corporate employees who travel overseas, for example by stressing the importance of being aware of local security risks and the importance of knowing how to contact local authorities or corporate security teams in the event of an emergency.
In a statement to the NHK, Golgo 13 author Takao Saito said that he hopes that Japanese people will read the manual so that they "won't be caught offguard" if they find themselves in a different country where people have different ways of thinking, and that the advice contained within will help tourists make "educated decisions" about what to do in the event of a crisis.
