American Soul Reviver Movie in Development

Zwick & Herskovitz

The Last Samurai director Edward Zwick and The Last Samurai producer Marshall Herskovitz are now developing an American live-action feature based on the Soul Reviver manga by writer Tohru Fujisawa (GTO) and illustrator Manabu Akishige (D-ASH, GO-ON!). The manga series that premiered in 2011 is set in an alternate world in which the dead can be revived if their souls are recovered before passing into the void. Former detective Ryusuke Jin and dead high school girl Clara work as “soul revivers” who enter the world of the dead to recover recently deceased souls.

Shogakukan produced a short CG anime last year to advertise the manga’s third collected volume.
