Overview
Overall, hardware sale this week decreased by four percent. Week-on-week sales is up for the Wii, PS4 and Xbox One. Overall year-on-year sales are up by 10 percent. The Wii U is up year-on-year.
Four games debuted in the top 30 this week: Diablo III (PS4) debuted at number one with sales of 230,929. The Xbox One version debuted at number four with sales of 95,463. The game launched worldwide.
Software milestones this week in the top 30: The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) passed the one million mark.
Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week is up for the Wii, PS4, and Xbox One. PlayStation 4 sales are up by 13,313 (9%) to 159,285 units sold. Wii U sales are down by 12,200 (-18%) to 54,254 units sold. The Xbox One sold 53,207 units, an increase of 5,319 (11%). PlayStation 3 sales are down by 4,460 (-10%) to 40,860 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down by 400 (-1%) to 26,681 units sold. The Wii sold 7,487 units, an increase of 25 (0%).
Handheld sales week-on-week is down across the board. The 3DS sold 109,581 units, which is a decrease of 15,925 (-13%). The PlayStation Vita sold 28,210 units, which is down 7,958 (-22%) compared to last week. The PSP is down 157 (-4%) to 4,069 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 22,443 units (-4%) to 483,634 units sold.
The Wii U is up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 58,056 (-59%), the Wii is down 13,736 (-65%), the Xbox 360 is down 29,907 (-53%), and the Wii U is up 30,695 (130%). The PSP is down 34,833 (-90%), the Vita is down 12,982 (-32%) and the 3DS is down 40,982 (-27%). Year on year sales is up by 43,951 units (10%).
Home console hardware sales have increased for the PlayStation 4 for two weeks and one week for the Xbox One and Wii. Sales have decreased for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U for one week.
The PlayStation 3 has a 54 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 36 percent market share; and the Wii has a 10 percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 60 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Wii U has a 20 percent market share and the Xbox One has a 20 percent market share. Compared with 10 weeks ago the PlayStation 4 is up.
Handheld hardware sales have decreased for the 3DA and Vita for one week and the PSP for 11 weeks. The Vita has outsold the PSP for 46 straight weeks. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has decreased this week to 81,000 units, from 89,000 units last week.
The 3DS has a 80 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 20 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks the 3DS is up.
Worldwide Software

Tales of Xillia 2 (PS3) debuted at number two with sales of 123,606. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (PS4) debuted at number 11 with sales of 39,735. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Bullet Girls (PSV) debuted at number 16 with sales of 30,657. The game launched in Japan.
Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: The Last of Us Remastered (PS4) is at number three with sales of 115,397. Yokai Watch 2 Honke (3DS) is at number five with sales of 77,888.
Diablo III (PS3) is at number six with sales of 73,074. Minecraft (PS3) is at number seven with sales of 62,673. Minecraft (X360) is at number eight with sales of 55,434. Tomodachi Life (3DS) is at number nine with sales of 53,435. Mario Kart 8 (WiiU) is at number 10 with sales of 53,026.
Software home console sales week-on-week is up for the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One. The PlayStation 3 sold 959,552 games this week, an increase of 149,983 units (19%). The Xbox 360 sold 630,646 games, an increase of 264,081 units (3%). The PlayStation 4 sold 561,975 games, an increase of 264,081 units (89%). Wii software sales are down 16,272 units (-7%) to 215,782 games sold. The Xbox One sold 209,244 games, an increase of 103,782 (98%). The Wii U sold 172,708 games, a decrease of 83,159 (-33%).
Handheld software sales week-on-week is down across the board. The 3DS sold 432,213 games, which is down 129,114 units (-23%). The DS sold 173,139 games, a decrease of 3,416 units (-2%) week-on-week. Vita game sales are down 3,951 units (-3%) to 131,878 games sold. The PSP sold 52,318 games, a decrease of 3,845 (-7%). Total combined software is up 295,731 units (9%) week-on-week to 3.54 million.
Year-on-year software totals are up for the Wii U and Vita. The PlayStation 3 is down 600,944 units (-39%), the Wii is down 250,795 units (-54%), the Xbox 360 is down 1.13 million units (-64%), and the Wii U is up 2,665 units (2%). The DS is down 75,248 units (-31%), the PSP is down 70,919 units (-58%), the 3DS is sown 32,571 units (-7%), and the Vita is up 14,915 units (13%). Total combined software is down 1.38 million units (-28%) games sold year-on-year.
Home console software sales have increased for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One for one week. Sales have decreased for the Wii U for one week, and seven week for the Wii.
The PlayStation 3 has a 53 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 35 percent market share; and the Wii has a 12 percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 60 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 22 percent market share, and the Wii U has a 18 percent market share.
Handheld software sales have decreased for the Vita for one week, two weeks for the 3DS, three weeks for the PSP and seven weeks for the DS. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS sold more than three times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold more than three times as many games as the PSP.
The DS has a 77 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 23 percent market share. The 3DS has an 77 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 23 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handhelds are down.
