Kadokawa announced today on April 30 that the final/14th volume of the manga version of Neon Genesis Evangelion, illustrated by the anime character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, will be released in Japan on November 20, 2014. The manga started its serialization in the February 1995 issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Shonen Ace, 10 months prior to the broadcast of the TV anime. After taking several breaks, the final episode to conclude its 18-year serialization, “LAST STAGE,” was published in the July 2013 issue of Young Ace. The total print run of the 13 tankobons in Japan has reached 23 million.
The premium limited edition of the 14th volume comes with an original cover for the edition, bookend for the all 14 tankobons, 14-page booklet for Sadamoto’s newly-drawn illustrations, and “Working Music CD” containing the tunes Sadamoto listened to during his drawing time. The tankobon itself also includes
a 28-page new manga episode. The 1,280-yen limited edition is only produced by order and the deadline
for the pre-order is July 31.
