Following the 30-second teaser in March, Shochiku today posted a 90-second full trailer for Hot Road, the upcoming live-action adaptation film of Taku Tsumugi's popular shoujo manga in the mid-1980s. The manga was serialized in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret from 1986 to 1987, and has sold 7 million copies of its various tankobon. It is often considered as one of the best shoujo manga in the 1980s.
The trailer features the theme song "OH MY LITTLE GIRL," the late Yutaka Ozaki's biggest hit song in 1994, which was released two years after his sudden death due to pulmonary edema caused by excessive drinking on April 25, 1992. The film hits Japanese theaters on August 16.
The trailer
The story revolves around a 14-year-old girl Kazuki Miyaichi, who believes that she is an undesired child and
her parents have already abandoned her. One day she meets a 16-year-old boy Hiroshi Haruyama who is a
member of a big motorcycle gang "NIGHTS" (MAD SPECIAL THE NIGHTS). While Kazuki decides to live in the
reckless world with him, Hiroshi, as the leader of "NIGHTS," gradually becomes involved in the conflict with
other gang groups.
