Aniplex to Release "Fullmetal Alchemist" 1st TV Anime Blu-ray Box Set in Japan

The official site for the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series announced today on May 28 that Aniplex will release a HD remastered 8-disc Blu-ray box set of the 2003-2004 TV anime in Japan on October 29, 2014. A Blu-ray disc of its sequel film in 2005, Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, also hits stores separately on the same day. This is the first time for the first TV anime to be released in Blu-ray format.

The first TV anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist manga was aired for 51 episodes in Japan from October 4, 2003 to October 2, 2004, then the film to conclude its original story, Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, was released on July 23, 2005. The box set includes the 51 TV anime episodes with extra contents (non-credit OP/ED, DVD trailers, Urahagane footage), special booklet, and newly-illustrated jacket. The price for the set is 37,800 yen (about US$370),

and that for the Conqueror of Shamballa disc is 5,184 yen (about US$51). Some fans are wondering why

the company can't release them together in one set....
