The official Twitter account for the Yowamushi Pedal anime series reports today that Yowamushi Pedal Re:Ride, the compilation film of the 38-episode 1st TV anime based on Wataru Watanabe's road bicycle racing-themed manga, has reached 100 million yen mark on 72,000 ticket sales in 11 days since its release on September 9. The film has gotten a very limited theatrical release on only 10 screens across Japan, but thanks to the passionate fans who rushed to the theaters to see their favorite characters on a big screen, it earned an impressive 50 million yen in the first three days.
The film was originally scheduled for a limited time run of two weeks ending on October 2, but due to this huge success, all of the 10 theaters have decided to show it longer than originally planned. And five more theaters will be added next weekend.
