If you look at Attack on Titan fan art and doujinshi, it's pretty clear that Armin brings the cute, young-looking boy element to the series' appeal. Well, author Hajime Isayama has upended that particular table.
In his Q&A for the November 2014 issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine, he glibly responded to the question "out of the group of female characters in the 104th Trainee Squad, who did Mikasa get along with the most?" by suggesting Armin might fall into that category.
In addition to that shocker, Isayama also reports that Sasha could consume more than competitive eater Natsuko "Gal" Sone, Titans smell like hot springs, and, of course, Levi's role in meal-prep is cleaning.
