Fanart Friday returns, and I swear to God if I had a twin I would have beaten him to death by now. Last week, we chose every stage but Final Destination with the cast of Super Smash Bros., but we're going for another family theme this week with TWINS! If you like a character, what's cooler than getting two of them?
I've also been looking for an excuse to use a CHVRCHES song, no matter how tangentially related
Oftentimes, though, finding out a character has a twin can be a real surprise, so here's a blanket SPOILER WARNING for the rest of this installment! Almost all the twins I know are total and absolute weirdos, family included, so I thought we'd have a lot of fun with this theme for Fanart Friday. Now, let's get started!
DISCLAIMER: None of the art presented is the property of myself or Crunchyroll. All characters and series are tm and © their respective creators and corporate owners. Let's start with two of my favorite twins, the Sons of Sparda--Dante and Vergil! Dante is the cocksure, flashy star of Devil May Cry, and Vergil is the cool, collected, and serious one. Those of you unfamiliar with DMC, can you guess which is which?
I was honestly kind of hoping someone would ask for Gravity Falls' Dipper and Mabel, 'cause it's a great show that's basically Twin Peaks for kids. Some of the fanart for it, though... yeesh. They're siblings.

Like I mentioned earlier, there are plenty of stories where you don't even know characters are related, like in SKET Dance, where Bossun's long-suffering rival Tsubaki actually turns out to be his twin brother, and they were separated as children!

By far, the most popular request for this week was Ouran High School Host Club's Hitachiin twins, Hikaru and Kaoru. I don't blame you guys, as they're hilarious, even if they take the "brotherly love" act a little too far sometimes. Yes, I know it's just an act, but damn.

Going a little more old-school, one of the best Final Fantasy games ever, Final Fantasy IV, has Palom and Porom, twin Black Mages who complement each other nicely. While Palom has a huge opinion of himself, Porom is the calming force that keeps him from going too wild.

Going even older-school, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa are the Skywalker twins, children of Darth Vader, and if I've somehow spoiled Star Wars for you, then I have no idea what on Earth to say. There's a statute of limitations on this shit.
So here we've got two girls with boys' names (Kyou and Ryou from CLANNAD), and I have to ask... what are you guys' experiences with that? I mean, I've known dudes named Shannon and Courtney, but every girl named Samantha I've known goes by Sam. Sorry, when I hear "Sam," I think of Ted Danson.

The astrological sign of Gemini is represented by twins, so Fairy Tail's Lucy has them on her keyring! It's been a while since I've seen them, though, so their unique skills are lost on me.

Whoa there, dudes! Hetalia is no stranger to fujoshi-baiting shounen-ai hijinx, but I don't think I've ever seen North and South Italy this ready to, uh... party.

Funny how a series titled Candy Boy actually has nothing to do with candy or boys, and instead is a yuri series about... a pair of twins Jesus really now

Aside from the Hitachiin twins, Lucky Star's Kagami and Tsukasa also took top slots for most-requested twins, along with...

...Vocaloid twins Kagamine Rin and Len! Not to take away from their spotlight, but are Tupac and Michael Jackson Vocaloids now? I mean, MJ's probably gonna enjoy being around a bunch of (holographic) kids again, so...

Ladies, I understand--Escaflowne's Folken is a total f**king hunk, so I can see why Naria and Eriya were willing to literally fight to see which one would end up with him (the answer is neither).

Apparently "white Mokona" and "black Mokona" are not their names in Tsubasa and xxxHolic, and they're called Soel and Larg. I think I'm still gonna call 'em "white Mokona" and "black Mokona," just because I've watched Blazing Saddles one too many times and still like to go "a black Mokona?!" Now somebody needs to make a doujin redoing the whole "oh, it's twue, it's twue" scene. (Please don't.)

Twin brothers Rin and Yukio Okumura are at the center of Blue Exorcist's combination of family drama and fiend destruction. Y'know the only thing I can't get over? The ridiculous smooth jazz sax playing during the first opening--everything else is awesome.

Among the bishounen armada that is Fushigi Yugi, we had Suboshi and Amiboshi taking the role of twin terrors as part of the Seiryu Seven. Most of those guys were punks, so I didn't feel bad for them dropping one by one, but these two were bad guys I actually liked.

These guys, though... Black Lagoon's villains tend not to last very long, but the twins were two of the most absolutely terrifying antagonists the series ever saw. Even now, knowing what happens, this arc is hard to watch.

To be honest, my only knowledge of Danganronpa's twins-of-many-names comes from an Ani-Mia cosplay of Junko, but hey, it's something. But once I decided to dig in and look for actual information about them, holy crap, that's a lot to digest without actually spoiling the entire series for people. Now I actually wanna see what's up with this show.

I hadn't heard of Love so Life, and hadn't expected to find any fanart of it, but then I come across this beautiful piece! Reader who requested it--care to fill us in on this show in the comments?

So I'm gonna come clean and be that guy: I don't like Log Horizon much, but I also didn't give it much of a chance. It just felt so dull and slice-of-lifey and... yeah. So no, I didn't get far-enough in to meet Tohya and Minori. I'll give it another chance soon.

Oh wow, this is a blast from the past (namely, my MPC Anime Club days)--Futakoi! Sorry, dudes-who-want-to-romance-twins, I think this is a terrifying idea that will only end in tears. On this same note, I keep wondering if shows like Futakoi or Kiss x Sis are gonna end like School Days, just for the sheer freakiness of it all.

Super-long names like Suiseiseki and Souseiseki kinda remind me of the old kids' story Tikki Tikki Tenbo. Cute little Rozen Maiden-type sorta-dolls are also a perfect fit for this month, what with Annabelle out now. I am totally sorry if I've equated anyone's Rozen Maiden adorable goth-loli fandom with vicious murder dolls.
Okay, only a little sorry.

So this week, we end with--oh come on, Yoh and Hao aren't even twins! Okay, yes, they look exactly like each other, but Shaman King was kind enough to point out that Hao is a psychopathic, immortal, ancient member of the Asakura family, and is main character Yoh's ancestor.
And that's everything for this week (and that's everything for this week)! ...stop copying me (stop copying me)! There's no way I could have included everybody--who are your favorite twins? Sound off in the comments and let us know!
Like I say every week, your art is always welcome here on Fanart Friday. Just PM me a link to your work (full URL, please!), and I'll make sure to include it in a future installment! Here are the next three themes for Fanart Friday:
-Next week, on OCTOBER 17th, put on your badass shirt, because we're celebrating famed voice actor NORIO WAKAMOTO! Such a soothing voice. THIS IS THE ONLY THEME I'M TAKING REQUESTS FOR THIS WEEK!
-Then, on OCTOBER 24th, we get ready for Halloween by focusing on THE MONSTER THAT IS MAN! No vampires, ghosts, werewolves or other supernatural threats--just scary people for this installment!
-On OCTOBER 31st, we celebrate Halloween proper with SUPERNATURAL THREATS! Here's where you get to ask for all the extra-human monsters and murderers!
Also, folks, I have to remind you--this is your last chance to enter our THIRD ANNIVERSARY CONTEST, with a chance to win a year's worth of Crunchyroll All-Access Membership, and a backpack full of awesome stuff hand-picked by me! Go check out Three Whole Years Edition, follow the directions and send in your entry--we're doing the drawing next week!
Thanks again for coming by to check out Fanart Friday! Have a great, safe three-day weekend (I don't get one this time), and I hope you drop by next week!
