VIDEO: Live-Action "Hot Road" Film's Teaser Posted

A 30-second teaser for Hot Road, the upcoming live-action adaptation film of Taku Tsumugi's popular shoujo manga in the mid-1980s, is now online. The manga was serialized in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret from the January 1986 issue to the May 1987 and has sold 7 million copies of its various tankobon. It is often considered as one of the best shoujo manga in the 1980s.


 


The story revolves around a 14-year-old girl Kazuki Miyaichi, who believes that she is an undesired child and her parents have already abandoned her. One day she meets a 16-year-old boy Hiroshi Haruyama who is a member of a big motorcycle gang "NIGHTS" (MAD SPECIAL THE NIGHTS). While Kazuki decides to live in the reckless world with him, Hiroshi, as the leader of "NIGHTS," gradually becomes involved in the conflict with other gang groups.


 


20-year-old actress Rena Nounen, who gained massive popularity with the 2013 NHK Asadora Amachan,


plays the protagonist girl Kazuki Miyaichi with 27-year-old Hiroomi Tosaka as Hiroshi Haruyama. He is


one of the two vocalists of popular dance/vocal unit Sandaime J Soul Brothers and this is his film acting


debut. Takahiro Miki, who worked on two live-action adaptation films based on popular manga series:


Solanin (2010) and Bokura ga Ita/We Were There (2012) previously, serves as the director. Hot Road hits


Japanese theaters on August 16.
