The box art and promotional campaign for busty ninja action game Senran Kagura Burst was already well cheeky, innit? While scroll-in-cleavage art ended up on the final cover, Marvelous AQL Europe had another risque plan for the box.
A post over at the Official Senran Kagura Community Facebook page recently revealed the prototype below, which features Hikage (sans head, apparently) and a slipcover case that becomes a bit more revealing when removed.
One of our original boxart designs was this prototype. It was going to be an outer box of Hikage (which would essentially be her clothes) and then the box underneath was going to be her in her underwear...
We really like this idea - and came very close to using it - but in the end it was a bit too tricky to implement using the assets we had to hand...
In case you haven't seen it, this is what they went with when Senran Kagura Burst hit Europe last month.
No big loss. It's probably safe to say they had enough fun with the release as is.
