"Frozen" Sells 2 Million Blu-ray/DVD Sets in Only 5 Days in Japan

Following the amazing first day record, Walt Disney Studio Japan again announced today that the "MovieNEX" set of its 3DCG musical fantasy film Frozen, which contains both a DVD and Blu-ray disc, has sold 2,014,495 units in Japan in only five days since its release on July 16. It easily surpasses the previous first-week record holder Spirited Away's 1.40 million in 2002. The film, titled as Ana to Yuki no Jyoou (Anna and the Snow Queen) in Japan, has also been rented more than one million times and watched 140,000 times on demand.

As of the last weekend (July 19-21), the film has earned about 25.1 billion yen in the Japanese box office in 19 weeks since its opening on March 14, and is expected to reach the record of the second highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, James Cameron's 1998 film Titanic's 26.2 billion very soon.
