Yahoo! Japan and Mantab Entertainment have revealed the principal cast and staff for this fall's adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki's sci-fi manga Parasyte. Nobunaga Shimazaki is 17-year-old Shinichi Izumi. Aya Hirano voices Migi, the alien parasite that attempts to bore into his brain, but, thwarted by headphones, winds up in his right hand. Kana Hanazawa is his close friend Satomi Murano.
Kenichi Shimizu (primarily an animator, who previously directed Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher) helms the Madhouse production with Shoji Yonemura (Kamen Rider Kabuto, Smile Precure) handling composition. Gainax vet Tadashi Hiramatsu (His and Her Circumstances) is on character design with Toshiyuki Komaru as chief animation director.
The series is also being adapted into a pair of live-action movies. The first part is scheduled to be released in Japan on November 29, 2014, then the second part, tentatively titled as "The Final Chapter," will follow sometime in 2015.
