“Super Smash Bros.” Gets a “Pong” Style Assist Trophy

“Super Smash Bros.” Gets a “Pong” Style Assist Trophy

The latest Super Smash Bros. Assist Trophy takes us way back to the early days of console gaming as we know it. In this case it’s the Color TV Game 15, a Nintendo home console from the late ’70s that played 15 variations of a Pong-style game called Light Tennis.

Now it’s getting ready to invade Super Smash Bros., and director Masahiro Sakurai is here to show us a pic and explain how hard they worked to make it behave like the original game.

Pic of the day. The unexpected Assist Trophy, the TV-Game 15! Color TV-Game 15 is a home entertainment system that was released in 1977 in Japan before the release of Space Invaders. This is the oldest game to join the Smash Bros. series.

Follow-up comment:

Super Smash Bros. hits Nintendo 3DS this summer, followed by Wii U this winter.
