Overview
Overall, hardware sale this week decreased by nine percent. Week-on-week sales are up just for the PlayStation Vita. Overall year-on-year sales are down by 25 percent. The Wii U is the only platform up year-on-year.
Three games debuted in the top 30 this week. South Park: The Stick of Truth (X360) debuted at the top of the charts with sales of 260,175. The PlayStation 3 version debuted at number two with sales of 237,525. The PC version debuted at number 16 with sales of 34,810. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Software milestones this week in the top 30: Grand Theft Auto V (PS3) passed the 17 million mark.
Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week are down across the board. PlayStation 4 sales are down 38,578 (-24%) to 123,702 units sold. Xbox One sales are 85 (0%) to 67,344 units sold. PlayStation 3 sales are down 6,219 (-10%) to 53,493 units sold. Wii U sales are down 3,958 (-10%) to 35,504 units sold. The Xbox 360 sold 23,912 units, a decrease of 1,774 (-7%). The Wii sold 10,788 units, a decrease of 1,283 (-11%).
Handheld sales week-on-week is up for the PlayStation Vita, and down for the 3DS, and PSP. The 3DS sold 117,105 units, which is down 5,615 (-5%) week-on-week. The PlayStation Vita sold 55,808 units which is up 11,012 (25%) compared to last week. The PSP is down 1,006 (-7%) to 14,201 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 47,506 units (-9%) to 501,857 units sold.
The Wii U is up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 106,999 (-67%), the Wii is down 28,599 (-73%), the Xbox 360 is down 87,778 (-79%), and the Wii U is up 7,180 (25%). The PSP is down 67,747 (-83%), the Vita is down 30,852 (-36%) and the 3DS is down 29,882 (-20%). Year on year sales are down 171,392 units (-25%).
Home console hardware sales have decreased for the Xbox One and PlayStation 3 for one week. The Wii U and PlayStation 4 have dropped for two weeks, while the Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 have decreased for three straight weeks.
The PlayStation 3 has a 61 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 27 percent market share; and the Wii has a 12 percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 54 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 30 percent market share and the Wii U has a 16 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all six home consoles are down.
Handheld hardware sales have increased for the Vita for two weeks. The 3DS and PSP have decreased for one week. The Vita has outsold the PSP for 22 straight weeks. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has decreased this week to 61,000 units, from 78,000 units last week.
The 3DS has a 68 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 32 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks the3DS, Vita, and PSP are down.
Worldwide Software

Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: Thief (PS4) is at number three with sales of 79,496. Minecraft (X360) is at number four with sales of 59,217. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare (X360) is at number five with sales of 53,847.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (WiiU) is at number six with sales of 53,155. Thief (XOne) is at number eight with sales of 47,740. Pokémon X/Y (3DS) is at number nine with sales of 46,983. Grand Theft Auto V (PS3) is at number 10 with sales of 44,025.
Software home console sales week-on-week is up for the Xbox 360 and down for everything else. The PlayStation 3 sold 1.50 million games, a decrease of 23,270 units (-2%). The Xbox 360 sold 1.13 million games this week, an increase of 7,000 units (1%). The Wii sold 343,416 games, a decrease of 23,444 units (-6%). The PlayStation 4 sold 315,015 games, a decrease of 315,868 (-50%). Xbox One software sales are down 187,554 units (-45%) to 226,234 games sold. The Wii U sold 220,829 games, a decrease of 45,170 (-17%).
Handheld software sales week-on-week is up for the Vita, and down for the DS, PSP, and 3DS. The 3DS sold 500,845 games, which down 206,383 units (-29%). The DS sold 247,679 games, a decrease of 21,282 units (-8%) week-on-week. Vita game sales are up 5,363 units (3%) to 167,674 games sold. The PSP sold 80,830 games, a decrease of 27,438 (25%). Total combined software is down 838,046 units (-15%) week-on-week to 4.74 million.
Year-on-year software totals is up for the Wii U and down for everything else. The PlayStation 3 is down 686,545 units (-31%), the Wii is down 188,617 units (-35%), the Xbox 360 is down 537,209 units (-32%), and the Wii U is up 146,309 units (196%). The DS is down 73,018 units (-23%), the PSP is down 110,823 units (-58%), the 3DS is down 43,374 units (-8%), and the Vita is down 142,161 units (-46%). Total combined software is down 1,094,189 units (-19%) games sold year-on-year.

The PlayStation 4 has a 41 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 30 percent market share, and the Wii U has a 29 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all six home consoles are down.
Handheld software sales have increased for the Vita for one week. The 3DS and PSP have both decreased for one week, while the DS has decreased for two weeks. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS sold nearly three times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold more than three times as many games as the PSP.
The DS has a 75 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 25 percent market share. The 3DS has an 75 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 25 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handhelds are down.
