Animation junkies got some great news last light with the announcement that Takeshi Koike (Redline, Animatrix - World Record, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine character design) will be helming Lupin the IIIrd: Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone, slated to premiere theatrically this summer. Koike will also be in charge of character design and animation director. Redline collaborator James Shimoji is also attached for the music.
Cast includes Kanichi Kurita, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, Miyuki Sawashiro and Kouichi Yamadera.
A site for the project about Lupin's hardboiled gunslinger companion, viewed as a second spin-off following Fujiko, has launched at http://jigen-movie.com/
A special limited screening is slated to take place in early summer at Shinjuku Wald 9.
